South Coast School Sport offers athletes with a disability (multi-class athletes) the opportunity to participate in an inclusive school sport program. Multi-class athletes are able to compete in both able-bodied events as well as multi-class events.
Regional trials are held in cross country, swimming and track and field for multi-class athletes.
Due to the small number of multi-class athletes in the region, students participate in regional trials in their age group with able-bodied athletes. Results are then compared to multi-class state qualifying standards.
Students are selected in the regional team to attend the Queensland School Sport State Championships.
View the regional calendar (currently unavailable) for trial dates and information.
Classification
All students with an eligible impairment type must be classified if they wish to participate in representative school sport multi-class events.
Not all students with a disability will meet the minimum disability criteria for a specific sport. If a student does not meet the criteria, they will not be eligible to compete in multi-class events.
All athletes in multi-class events must be classified according to the international standard before competing at state and national levels.
